The Hamilton Cinderella Story Coach Sinkler's first year as a Varsity coach was definitely something to talk about. She says her first year at Hamilton was her "Cinderella Team". The girls worked hard and adapted well to Sinkler's coaching style. After finishing in 3rd place at their first competition, Coach Sinkler knew this team was determined to break the mold. They no longer wanted to be average. The team was ready to push the limits, something that was admired by many. The girls ranked second in the OK Green & Gold conference in 2018, behind Forest Hills Eastern. Ahead of Thornapple Kellogg, Wayland, Wyoming, Zeeland East, Zeeland West, and Grand Rapids Christian. This was a first for the cheer team at Hamilton. The OK Green & Gold conference consists of all Division 2 teams (800+ students per school) Hamilton was the only Division 3 school in the entire conference. This was a huge confidence booster for the team. Although the season wasn't perfect, coach constantly found her team working together. Not only on the mat, but also in the classroom. All of Sinkler's teams are held to a very high academic standard. "I always put academics first." says Sinkler. "Even when I want to throw cheer out in front. I know school is the most important." As the season quickly came to an end, districts were approaching. Coach Sinkler and the team knew it was going to be a fight to advance to Regional Finals. Only the top four of fifteen teams advance! Taking the mat with determination and brand new attitude, they did it. The Hawkeyes placed 4th at Districts. The Competitive Cheer team was headed to Regional Finals for the first time... in school history!
